Wrapping up 2018

November 26, 2018

Continuing my data science journey, I am currently enrolled in Andrew Ng’s course in Machine Learning by Stanford University via Coursera. This course is much different than the specialization in Data Science with Python that I completed a few months ago. It gets much deeper into the math behind Machine Learning and uses Matlab or Octave for the assignments rather than Python. It’s several weeks longer than most of my other courses and works a lot of material into each week. That said, the material is well presented and organized and I like the format of the assignments.

Earlier this year, I visited Sweden and Norway and will be posting some blogs soon about my solo travels. I especially loved Oslo. I spent several months prior to my trip learning Swedish and now I’m learning Norwegian via Duolingo and Babbel while preparing for my next trip – hopefully spending time between Oslo and Bergen. Would I consider relocating to Scandinavia someday? You bet! If you’re already there and would like to chat about future opportunities, please feel free to contact me via Twitter or LinkedIn.

Like many of you, I’m thinking about my goals for next year and how best to level up my career. I already spend quite a bit of time on Pluralsight taking courses in Agile, .NET, SQL, etc. Today, I also took advantage of a Cyber Monday sale at Brent Ozar Unlimited and got a season pass to their recorded classes. It will be exciting to dig into that.

Until next time, I wish you all the best. Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!
