Settling In

Since my last update, I’ve been getting settled into my new surroundings here in the greater Austin Metro Area. It’s a great place to live.

Currently, I’m working on some personal projects in python to read from the VSAC API and compare value set changes from year to year. The hope is to be able to automate some of the manual review of eCQM specifications that my team and I have to do every year.

Thinking forward to future goals, I continue to take courses with Coursera. I particularly enjoy the ones through the University of Michigan because their content and autograders are so good. I completed the Django for Everyone specialization and started on a Python 3 Programming Specialization to fill in gaps in my knowledge and reinforce what I already know. In addition, I’m taking some of the Google and Meta courses to brush up on Data Analytics and Front-End Development, respectively.

Since Austin is a very “arty” place, there have been plenty of opportunities to take art classes, too. I recently finished up a Life Drawing Class through The Contemporary Austin. Working with live models was a real challenge and a lot of fun.
